I don't know what went wrong and I need assistance and advice on how to remove this problem. Here goes:
I am trying to open a pre-existing website by transferring the file from my friend and using localhost to view it but when I try to access the website from a web browser (note that the webpage is in .aspx format) an error keeps popping up saying its configuration
error. I have already transferred the website folder from the external drive to my hard drive in C:/inetpub/wwwroot and I already created a database for it in MS SQL but with no progress in accessing the website. As you can already tell, I'm a beginner at
using this webpage, localhost and aspx stuff.
I'm lost and confused now. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.

You should post the error you receive.

Those files will have different configuration, than your locahost settings. Post the error,
Mostly you have to change the virtual directory into application from IIS, to start with.

Hi, Please post the error message.
First try to configure your IIS manager.
Secondly, Create a Virtual Directory in IIS manager for your Website Files

2. right click on the folder and pick Sharing and Security then Web Sharing from the tab(use share this folder). What I trying is to create a virtual DIR
