The Licensing Agreement for this WCF REST Starter Kit Preview 2 seems to have changed since Preview 1 was released.
It looks like you can ONLY use this WCF REST Starter Kit Preview 2 for reference purposes ONLY and CANNOT ship it with your own software.
You cannot redistribute the WCF REST Starter Kit Preview 2 with any software we build: "Reference Use Only" !!!
You are implying some sort of Commercial Offering may replace thsi starter kit: "If Licensor releases a final, commercial version of the software (or any of its component) for which you are exercising Additional Use Rights, you will incorporate such final,
commercial version of the software (or such component) within a commercially reasonable period after Licensor’s commercial release."
So exactly what use is this WCF REST Starter Kit Preview 2 if you cannot ship it with software?
Would be extremely grateful if someone in the WCF REST Starter Kit Team could clarify this in plain english.
Some clarification on this would be good. I was considering using the preview in a desktop REST client which would have required the distribution of the assemblies, but now I think that this is probably prohibited. Can someone in the know please comment
on this thread?
Hi,
Thanks for your question.We
regret that we cannot provide legal interpretations of the Starter Kit license in this forum. Please contact your legal counsel for questions related to the license and its applicability to your specific case. Thanks,
I agree it would be useful to have a clarification of the license. I believe that somewhere I saw mentioned that the starter kit was on a 4 month release cycle. I would like to request that the next version of the starter kit permit redistribution of software
written using this toolkit. You can leave it as a preview - I'll do my own testing. Thanks.

We are in 2009 and MSFT is still to ship a REST kit that can be used freely. Is it any wonder people end up creating their own?
What a load of nonsense.
