On a legacy application I want to update the .dll for only one .vb file - is this possible? Or do I have to rebuild the whole she-bang?
compile .net 1. visual studio

In 1.1 a project is compiled into a single dll, so the project would need to be rebuilt.

Well, darn I thought that was the answer.
My web application uses 3rd party controls (Infragistics); Installed is version 5.v3. When I compile I get error "Dependency [older version number] could not be found". I've looked everywhere for this older version reference - licenses.licx, all vb files,
searched whole project.
I don't think it's an infragistics problem, rather a VB project compile problem. Do you have any ideas?

The error message indicates that ASP.NET cannot find the assembly. What is the assembly name ASP.NET tries to load?
You can try to reinstall 3rd party control and add reference to it, and then rebuild your application to see whether it has the same issue.
I look forward to receiving your test results.
