Retrieve the data from the database using your preferred method and then set the html property of the rich text editor and your done, though you could alternatively use a datasource and bind to that.

How to bind, as non of the data controls will accept the rich text box in the item template

This shouldn't be the case you should have no trouble with it in an item template setting either the html, value, or text property dependant on the control. You should bind like: Text='<%# Bind("Content") %>' and if it doesn't like that just use the:
Text='<%# Eval("Content") %>'

I am totally unaware of the html,value or text property of the rich text editor. How do you utilize this values.
And I tried the: Text='<%# Eval("Content") %>', did not work. I placed my column name in the content area. No change.

Text='<%# Bind("Content") %>'' worked like a charm. It gave me answer late. My testing was not that good. It took some time.
Thank you all for coming to help
