We have a site that occasionally (every 3 weeks or so) needs a new app in a new virtual directory. Whenever I go in to set it up, I just have to give it an Application Name and set it to the appropriate Application Pool. Then, I have to set the correct
version of ASP.NET. That's where the issue is. Whenever I change from 1.1 to 2.0, it restarts IIS, which resets every site we have on the server. Even though this only happens once every few weeks, it's still an issue.
What are the workarounds to this? What makes 1.1 the default? Ideally, having 2.0 selected by default in the ASP.net tab of IIS would be the solution so I wouldn't have to change it. Is this possible?

Start>Run> type inetmgr and press enter
Under Internet information services select "Default Web Site"
Select Properties >Under Asp.net Tab select 2.0........
and click on apply button to apply the changes
