We have an ASP.NET 1.1 application and for some reason we started getting big red error messages on the screen when going to it running on localhost.
The error is "Server Application Unavailable".
We go through various steps when it occurs such as unregistering aspnet 1.1 and 2.0 and reregistering them, giving Users modify permissions on the temporary asp.net folders and a bunch of other stuff.
We started getting it after a reboot, but sometimes it just occurs and it takes half an hour to an hour to run through the steps to resolve the issue.
We suspect it could be related to SP1 for .net 3.5 but cannot be sure.
Is anybody else experiencing this issue? Does anybody know what is causing it or what a permanent resolution could be?

Thanks for the response but I don't think that's it unfortunately.
I just experienced the problem again and my application log in the event viewer has a load of errors for IIS that all say:
aspnet_wp.exe could not be started. The error code for the failure is 80070545. This error can be caused when the worker process account has insufficient rights to read the .NET Framework files. Please ensure that the .NET Framework is correctly installed
and that the ACLs on the installation directory allow access to the configured account.
