Converted a remote solution (resides on development server on intranet) from VS2003 to VS2005. Attempted to open solution from local client using VS2005 SP1 running on Vista. When I attempt to open the solution using VS2005, I get "Unable to read the project
file 'proj1.vbproj.' The Web Application Project proj1 is configured to use IIS. Could not find the server 'http://remoteservername' on the local machine.
Belong to administrators group on local client. Ran VS2005 as administrator.
Went into Turn Windows features on and off in control panel on local Vista client and checked all IIS 6 compatability checkboxes as outlined in
http://blogs.msdn.com/shahpiyush/archive/2007/06/01/3028325.aspx also, verified that ASP.net box is checked.
Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any guidance appreciated.........

Thanks for the quick reply. It turns out that we had opened the solution on another Vista system, clicked View > Property Pages > Web and clicked the IIS Web Server button. Clicking "Use Visual Studio Development Server" allowed me to at least open the solution
on my Vista client.
The reason we did all this is because when "Use Visual Studio Development Server" is clicked and I open the solution using the browser, VS2005 attempts to open server "localhost:nnnnn" instead of the NetBios server name. This ultimately leads to a security
policy server error. We find that when we open the solution from IE using the full NetBios server name (e.g.,
http://DevServer/ProjectShare), however, we don't get the security policy error.
I'm attempting to click the "Use IIS Web Server" button on this web tab and enter something like
http://DevServer/ProjectShare in the text box labeled Project URL believing that attempting to open the solution using the NetBios name will get around the security policy error. When I do this and try to open the
solution in the browser, however, I get "Could not find the server
http://DevServer on the local machine".

The problem I outlined in my previous reply was corrected by uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio 2005 and the associated service pack.

You can also edit the .csproj with notepad and change this line :
