I created both a Dyanmic Data Entities and Linq to SQL Web site. I have an autonumber primary key in my SQL database. The Linq to SQL Model handles data inserts fine, the Entities Model does not handle this and I actually have to provide the sequential
number in my data entry form when inserting a new record. I would like to know how developers who use Dynamic Data Entities Web Sites handle this?

I am reading about this now. Thank you.
Will validation throw an error stating "this is a required field"?

The EDM SSDL should have
StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity" so you won't fire the required validator.

What if you need the PK to be visible to the user?

Use Stephens excellent
I'm trying to make a case that sometimes you want to view the PK, but never edit it.

I am having some difficulty trying to hide a column. I am using the following code to create a partial class, but it is not working.

Here as sample I have from a working Northwind sample:
Partial Public Class [Order]
Public Class [OrderMD]
Public OrderID As Object
Public CustomerID As Object
Public EmployeeID As Object
Public OrderDate As Object
Public RequiredDate As Object
Public ShippedDate As Object
Public ShipVia As Object
Public Freight As Object
Public ShipName As Object
Public ShipAddress As Object
Public ShipCity As Object
Public ShipRegion As Object
Public ShipPostalCode As Object
Public ShipCountry As Object
Public Order_Details As Object
Private newPropertyValue As Object
<DisplayName("My Customer")> _
Public Property Customer() As Object
Set(ByVal value As Object)
newPropertyValue = value()
Public Employee As Object

I appreciate the code. I have duplicated everything you provided but still have trouble. Is there a setting in the Global.asax file I need to set?

You are probably missing the namespace wrapping your data model.

Thank you for all your help everyone. The Namespace wrapper was the problem.
