In my university we have Visual Studio 2005 installed in the computers but the software is only available in the Virtual Machine.
I want to bring my project in a pen to show to my teachers in class but i can´t make the pen available in the Virtual Machine. I do go to Settings and choose the pen as shared folders but when i click on the .sln file of my project Visual Studio says it´s
Am i missing something? Is there any other thing i should do to make the project available in the Virtual Machine?

Can you create a shared folder on the host machine and share it with virtual machine and dump the project files into that shared folder and then copy those files onto your pen drive.. Which virtualization software are you using.. Virtual PC?

What i did was to copy the files that were on my pen onto the host machine. Then i choose the option to share the folder which has the files on the host machine, in the Virtual Machine but somehow the files aren´t available.
I´m using Virtual PC yes.

Is it only happening to your project files or any type of files.. Try sharing some other folder and put some word and or text documents and see if you can see them inside the Virtual PC

I only tried with this folder. I will do that next time i go to the university.
Btw, i can see the folder inside the Virtual PC in My Computer. The folder is there but i tried to open my solution file but Visual Studio says it is unavailable.

Ok. So you can see the contents of the shared folder..
When you try to open the solution file (.sln), it will look for the folder where the actual project files are.. You need to copy them as well.. If this is a web application using C#, look for the folder where your .csproj file is.. and copy all the contents..
and .sln file will have the relative or absolute path of the project file. So that new path may not be valid anymore inside the virtual machine
