Happy New Year. That's a fine book. I used it when I started off with .NET 3.5. I would also recommend this book - Professional ASP.NET 3.5: In C# and VB
by Bill Evjen, Scott Hanselman, Devin Rader. It's published by Wrox.

You could also try "ASP.NET 3.5 Enterprise Application Development with Visual Studio 2008" by Wrox. Its not for the beginner but it has plenty of code to walk you through building a 3 layered app, custom server controls, crystal reports for .net, web parts,
exception handling, LINQ to SQL, LINQ, and plenty more.
