I've logged the issue here http://www.codeplex.com/aspnet/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=3014
In a summary after installing the patches as suggested on .NET 3.5 SP1 download page, rest starterkit sample applications are not working. The error thrown when running the service is:
[MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void System.ServiceModel.Diagnostics.Eve
Before the patch is installed
.NET Framework 3.0.4506.2123
After the patch is installed
.NET Framework 3.0.4506.2230
Is there any work around available that anyone can recommend? It is a show stopper for me at the moment.

We haven't yet been able to reproduce this issue yet.
Can you post the exact web request that you did to cause the exception?

All you have to do is install the patches and run the WCF Rest Starterkit sample. Any of the sample that you try to run will throw that exception.

We still haven't been able to reproduce the issue. I believe that it must be an issue with your installation. I suggest
If that still doesn't solve the issue, let us know the following information:

Are you running visual studio as an admin? I see partial trust in the stack, so I'm wondering if it's running from an untrusted location or something.

Just started receiving this error as well after applying the hotfix for 3.5 SP1. Strangely its only occuring on our x64 2008 servers not on the x86 2003 servers with the same codebase.

Server 2008 has the UAC feature. Are you running Visual Studio as an administrator? This could be the cause of the exception you are seeing. We'll investigate further on a Server 2008 x64 machine.

The error we see is in deployment on the w2008 machine (under IIS7). So Visual Studio isn't involved in that scenario. At the moment because its a prod box we've uninstalled the hotfix to get things going again.

Please, can you clearly explain your scenario. When you say you are running a sample from the starter kit, I assume you opened the samples solution in Visual Studio, then right-clicked one of the projects and selected start new instance. But you are saying
that Visual Studio is not involved. How are you running the samples? The first thing I have to do to troubleshoot this issue is to reliably reproduce the bug. Only then can I track down the cause and come up with a fix or a workaround.
