I am running VS 2008 on 2 different machines.
On machine1 VS runs great in dev and browsing through localhost.
On machine2 VS runs great in dev BUT when browing my pages through localhost there are random occurences of pages not loading or erroring out.
I have my dev apps on an external HD to allow me to dev between the 2 machines as needed.
Apparently there is some config / setup settings that are different between the two machines preventing machine2 to browse the app through localhost.
Anybody know of a setup guide to follow to find services that should be running or to config correctly.

Have you verified that IIS is configured the same on both machines? Also, are the two machines comparable, i.e., same amount of memory, same amount of virtual memory, etc.?

While the boxes are different I don't think this is the problem, as they both exceed min requirements. Both running Win Vista Ultimate with no problem.
As for IIS, what should I be looking for? Since I am browsing the apps through the VS IDE localhost, do I really need to consider IIS? To my knowledge I never set either of these machines to run any webs in IIS. I have a staging server to do a final test
before running to production. Since VS has a difficult time doing dev via remote server I do my dev locally via the ext HD. Would be nice to run this between the two machines for portability.
There might be a difference in IIS or services. What should I look for?

For IIS, you should be looking for differences between the two machines. For any difference that you find, then you have a starting point for possibly finding the problem.
However, if there are no differences, then it may have something to do with the way you're using your external HD. Is this HD attached to only one machine or both? If it's one, is the one with the problems?

Well, not sure why all is better now, but I made no changes and machine2 renders the app with no problem.
May have been something the to with the network I was connected to with a possible conflict or just needed a reboot.
It will always be a mystery.[8-)]
Thanks for your input.
