I have Installed a lovely new version of VS2008 Pro onto a new PC and all seemed to be going well until i noticed that i cant debug web applications.
All works fine for Windows based apps, but as soon as i open up a web app and try to run it, i get a server error telling me the page cant be displayed. Along with this, if i try to add a break point to the code to see where it is falling over, i get a
message telling me that the breakpoint wont be hit and no symbols have been loaded.
To add insult to injury, if i configure my version of IIS to run the site, it all works like a charm. It just seems to be when trying to run it throught the IDE that i get problems.
Please can someone shed some light on this?
I've spent the last few hours going back and forth through Google and come up with nothing that has helped. Any ideas would be gratefully received as i'm clutching at straws now.

if you are using vista then try to run VS2008 "As Administrator" (right click on the shortcut - Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and select Run as Administrator)...
hope it helps./.

Unfortunately that didnt work. But thanks for the quick response.
What i dont understand is that it kinda works. It will debug fine for windows based applications. and my code cant be that bad as it will run under IIS.
Is it possible that the 2 versions of IIS (the one on my PC and the internal one in VS) are somehow conflicting with one another?
They are both trying to run on different ports so i dont think they should get in one anothers way....but could that be it?

This worked like a charm! Thanks for the post... I was definitely on the wrong track trying to remember all the stuff you had to do to enable ASP.NET 1.1 on IIS 6.0.
