I really wish the WYSIWYG editor was smart enough that I would not have to use the edit/insert link button to add a link. There are countless times when I view a post and see that links are not converted and I have to copy and paste the link.
I know one of the response to this will be:
"Well people may not want links to be converted" Well the simple solution like other forums have is a checkbox that says "Convert urls to hyperlinks" in the editor.
Now I know the above is a dream, but if I could not have that feature, I would love that the edit/insert link feature was smarter and that the defaults are different.
If I highlight a link on the page and click the edit button, I wish the link would be already added into the
Link URL field. It should be a basic reg exp check to see if we have a url in the selected text. If we do, set the value of the text box. Less than 5 lines of code would say users a bunch of typing.
I also wish that the default would be open on a new page [I am not even sure why that is an option! Nothing like driving traffic away from a site]

I mostly use the keyboard combination ctrl + k to open this particular window. Also when you're using internet explorer you can have a link automatically generated when you type in the url like
www.microsoft.com gets automatically converted to a hyperlink. Also when you post in a url that you copied from the addressbar of another window and paste it in, like
http://www.live.com/, it gets converted to a hyperlink. Unfortunately... this doesn't work for me when I'm using Firefox.
