Installation of .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 fails on a Windows Server 2003 Standard with SP2:
Then no .NET Application on that server works anymore.
The error-message of the apps in the browser window tells me, that there is a configuration-error in
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\web.config line 242 or 194
Since the lines are identical on a different server which works, the problem must be elsewhere.
I uninstalled the earlier frameworks (.NET 2 couldn't be uninstalled).
And I re-installed everything. No web-app works. Trying to install .NET 3.5 SP1 fails again.
The registration correction tool for .NET 2 does not help.
Are the entire .NET installations corrupted due to the installation error of .NET 3.5 SP1 ?
Thanks for some help.

Thanks for your input.
I am even not able to install the sp1.
That's why I am not coming to the points discussed in the topic at the very top of this forum.
Even without sp1 no single webapp is working.
I would be glad, if you can still help me.

Can you please list some information as follows for more clues:
What to do when you go to post a setup and deployment issue on the MSDN forums?

Please check EventVwr logs to see what is interrupting 3.5 SP1 installation. As far as not able to run current apps in IIS, is probably due
ASP.NET not being registered on IIS. (or Try re-installing 2.0 Framework).

Finally I was able to repair my webserver with this tool:
This tool was able to uninstall all .NET Frameworks.
Then I re-installed all .NET Frameworks without any problems.
Now the server works fine again [:)]
