Brand new to asp.net, though I've been programming ASP for years.
Here's my setup, I'm a one-person operation:
~ Development machine: XP Pro, VS2005 Standard, ASP.NET 2.0 thru 3.5
~ Web server: Windows Server 2003, IIS 6, SQL Server 2000 SP4, ASP.NET 2.0 thru 3.5
For anyone out there more experienced than I with .NET, what, if any, problems do you see
with my setup to develop medium complexity ASP.NET sites for my company's intranet? Advice?

To develop in VS 2005 with 3.5 will be extra work on the programmer. I would recommend getting VS 2008 with SP1, if not make sure to get SP 1 for .Net 3.5. Also I would recommend going with SQL Server 2005.

I think you are fine.

Thanks for replying. My company's budget is very tight and I can't really upgrade any of the tools or server software I have (unless the modification/change is a free one), so I have two questions for you:
? What are VS2005's limitations when it comes to working with .NET3.5?
? What limitations will I experience if trying to use SQL 2000 with a dynamic, data-centric web application with AJAX fully employed?
Thank you so much!

your configuration seems to be fine, just install the latest service packs i.e visual studio 2005 SP1 if you want to build a web application, coz as per my knowledge goes VS2005 without SP1 does not support web applications, it just support web sites projects.
get web deployment project 2005 to help you make and deploy build easily. I think its free tool and available at microsoft's website..
