I have a working Asp.Net site developed under Expression Web and using an Access database. I need to add some 'code behind' to handle a specific error condition. I made a copy of the site and opened it in VWD. When I try to browse any page I get the following
'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' - Firefox fails as well.
If I simply use Design mode it displays just fine - are there some setup options I have to implement before using a 'real' browser?
Once I have got over this problem, I assume that I will have to create a new page in VWD with code behind specified and then copy my existing page into it before being able to add code?
Any suggestions very welcome

You can't juse browse and open a .aspx page in a browser. Its dynamic and needs a server to render it. Expression web and Visual Studio have a basic server built in to when you choose "view in browser" it renders it in its server engine. Right click on
a page and select "view in browser" or hit F5 and the project will run and display in the browser.

Problem is that Expression Web version displays in the ASP.Net Development Server. And now the site is actually running live on the Internet.
Now I have tried to use VWD and I get a message that IE Cannot display the page. Interestingly I did the intro tutorial and created the test page " Welcome to Visual Developer with a calendar" - Guess what - it will not display in the IE or Firefox browser
There just has to be a problem with the way I have installed VWD.......................?

Just noticed that IE flashes an error msg in bottom left - very fast but something like ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm. It then disappears when the message about being unable to display the webpage is displayed.

Try creating a new web application and then add all webpage files manually along with the web.config.

I created a new website by using the first tutorial that shows how to create a webpage displaying Welcome to Visual Web Developer and a calendar. It also will not display in IE.
Tried using VWD 2005 - same problem.
I suspect that VWD needs some special settings as IE works for Expression Web?

From a lead in another thread (which didnt apply to me) I looked for more problems with NOD32 and VWD.
I Googled VWD and NOD32 and got the answer at
http://insomniacgeek.com/blog/using-asp-net-development-server-with-nod32/ Basically its another setting in NOD causing my problem.
All working fine now!
