We recently renamed a server which hosts some asp.net applications.
After the rename, we can no longer use the server name in the paths to the web sites. Localhost and the IP address work, but not the new server name.
Has anyone else had this experience with IIS6 and a server rename?
Does anyone have a solution? We would like to use the server name in the path.

Thank you for the response. However, i had previosly looked over that website, and again, but my issue is not with user accounts, just with the fact that the sever
http://servername does not resolve to the localhost.
thanks again for any additional insights.

OK try to map the name to the localhost IP (127.0.0.1) in your windows hosts file
(Hosts file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc )

ok, thank you again for the reply. There was not a host file on the server when it was named originally, when it worked, so I didn't think creating one would matter.
But.. I will try it tomorrow and I'll post again if it has any effect.

Do you have proxy or ISA server installed on this network which may keep the old server name and redirect requests to it or something like that?
