.Net already have an excellent client side reporting mechanism.
You can see a control named ReportViewer in the toolbox (Under Data section).. You can use it along with rdlc files (File->New->Report) and typed dataset(File->New->Dataset) to generate excellent reports with built in pdf and excel save facilities.
This is an excellent book on that topic http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1590598547/itbookscatalo-20
You can search in the intenet for more resource ... I am planning to write a blog post on this.. will post the link once I add the blog

I have used the reportviewer control in a number of projects. The problem is that when hosting my websites, shared hosting packages do not support SQL Reporting which makes it useless. Other than that, users cant print reports from the website. In that case,

As far as I know rdlc Reports support client side reporting (thats why the extension rdlc).. I havent tried it yet in any live projects but am planning for a big project soon .. so i bought the above mentioned book and tried some reports locally.. they are
working excellent.. and from the authors descriptions and examples I can understand it will work for any kind of datasource and it will work client side..
The data we are showing in the rdlc report is from dataset, so am sure it will work client side..

Can somebody with experience in rdlc confirm this?

I checked and Sql Reporting does support client side reporting. I was unable to configure Reporting Services on my system. WE do extensively rely on it for reporting in our desktop applications.
But the problem is still there. Shared Hosting packages do not support it. We have to create html reports which have formatting issues with multiple pages and lack of print preview and export option. If someone can refer a good html reporting tool, i will
really appreciate it.
