I have just a search for posts by myself with the word FAQ and got nothing.
The resultant URL was http://forums.asp.net/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=FAQ+AND+user%3aTATWORTH+AND+app%3aforums&o=Relevance
However there are the following posts by myself that are older than 24hrs.
All have FAQ in them!
I have also had the same problem looking for CAPTCHA.

I noticed the same - however, shame on me I guess, I have never seen it work! I've tried to use it a few times to check up on a member in the course of moderation, but the 'recent posts' search has never once given me a single result. I've tried maybe 5-6
times, and always the same result. I give up on it every time, then a few months later I try again to see if it's been implemented.
Does the above post mean that the feature actually works, at least sometimes? I've just assumed that it was not yet implemented, or permanently broken.

The sort does work - most of the time. Threads get indexed only once per day, so posts made since the last run would not be seen. However the threads that I cited were started over 24 hours ago!
Last weekend I did successfully search for some threads. I agree with you that the search often appears not to work. I know that some regulars make a point of remembering the syntax to use a regular search engine to search just this site.

I would wait until an official announcement is made about the search feature being fixed. We all know it's not trustworthy, then why even try[*-)].

My dev team has been notified and will be looking into the various issues experienced with the search functionality. Please feel free to update this thread with any additional information that you may find pertinent. Thanks!
