I was working on creating a custom panel (modal dialog) that used standard ASPX controls to display data and postback when it was closed.
A simple link button will do, but how to ensure it gets rendered in the output HTML where I want, and not simply in the control order of the controls collection.
The answer was to render the control in the place I wanted, then render all of the children, omitting the control already rendered.
For more complex cases, a generic list of rendered controls would be possible.
I haven't included the rest of the modal dialog content or CSS for clarity
