Hi I would like to try and use access 2007 with the personal website kit what steps should I be made aware of. I am thinking all I need to do is to create a access file with the name personal and put it at the root level of the app. and change the provider,
after this I am not aware of the steps needed to accomplish such a task. Although I follow instructions well and I am willing to learn. If someone can point me in the right direction I sure would be greatful.

Well this link will help you replace the membership part
with access but you would have to build up the personal database and take care of the stored procedures and code changes.

I wonder if the access provider is already on my station I am able to choose a access data source when I click on one of the smart tags in the personal. I am being picky as to not corrupt any files. Is there a way to tell if they are already on the machine,
I have access 2007 installed along with office.

The access Provider and the access data source are not the same thing.
The accessProvider is used to give you the membership provider functions but with access and not sql.
The AccessDatasource is a connection means to allow you to display access information within an asp.net page
More info about the datasource check out
The best way to see what you have on the machine and get to know how it works is to follow the guideline in the article
I gave you the link for.
Hope it helps
