I have just used the asp.net 2.0 login control and i have found it very useful, BUT i realised when i uploaded to my webspace the login control dosnt work because i have not paid for a sql database on my webspace,
Is there a simple ish way to get the login control to work with an access database as i cannot justify the monthly payment for a sql database just yet.
I am using VB and code behinds

True yes the access membership provider is written in c# but it is very easy to compile and then use from vb.
But maybe the xml provider would be better

I have just remembered where the better write is for the access provider. Take a look at this one
Hope it a better example to follow, good luck.

Use SQL Express. It is free and works with the login control with no to minimum behind code.

Your comments on sql express are very true, however the problem is that only a few hosting company will let you host it.
But you may get lucky with your hosting company.
