might seem like a silly question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere - which is more efficient (in terms of performance) for localizing - duing it via the app_local or app_global files? Any advantages (besides that you can use global accross several
pages) of one over another?

Well it is adviseable that page specific resource files should be kept in Local it is also advisible that sub folders should be created that will increase readability. Resource files should be kept in Global folder when they are required as if you keep page
specific info in Global the comparatively these resource files will be large in size to deal with every page and will be difficult to maintain. How ever you can keep info like general messages "Records Saved Successfully" if they are common in all pages in
I hope it will give you some idea.

Use App_LocalResources for storing information which is not repeated across the pages (page specific content).
Use App_global for site wide content. If you overload app_global with more content, then there will be an obvious performance hit, so you need to maintain a balance here.
