My hard disk went recently, and I had to reinstall .Net Framework 3.5, along with Visual Web Developer 2008 (and everything else too). What I don't remember is if IIS had to be reinstalled also on a Windows XP Home edition with sp2. It seems like VWD 2008
works on my local machine without problems, but localhost wont run any of my asp.net applications. Can someone advise me about using IIS, and the versions I may need to use. Thanks for any help and advice.

You will need a webserver to run your web apps in a browser at localhost. I think installing IIS on XP Home can be tricky. Here's an article that discusses it. Note: it is not officially supported by Microsoft, so you could ruin your puter if you aren't

If you had to reinstall the entire OS, you may have to re-register .NET 2.0 with IIS. From a command prompt in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727, run:
This is assuming you have IIS installed- I don't think IIS is available on the Home version of XP. You should be able to use the development server with VWD without IIS.

on a Windows XP Home edition
Simple. XP Home doesn't have IIS.
