I'm doing some ASP.NET/MS SQL development and need from time to time to pass an ASP.NET/MS SQL project to a customer.
The goal: I'd like not to get into deployment of a project. I'd rather place a project on some web host, update it untill customer's requirements are met and that's it - when the requirements are met then the project is done. Let
the customer copy and deploy it.
The problem: I want a customer to have "read-only" rights regarding the code and database structure on the web-host so his developers would be able only to check the functionality and copy the project for deployment. There should
be no way to a customer side to modify the code on server, or to modify database in a way other than through the project's web forms.
Question: What should I look for on a web host? A normal full access account for me; and some read only ftp account the customer could copy the code through? But what about MS SQL database? For customer some restricted access through
SQL Server Management Studio to back up and copy the database, could it be done? Please advise me how to ask questions in a smart way regarding the above problem.
Is www.discountasp.net flexible enough to meet such rather common ASP.NET/MS SQL developer's needs? Their pricing seems to be quite resonable.

You could create a SQL Backup with the latest changes and put it on the FTP server, when the customer is happy, to copy all the files and deploy the project.

For good features at affordable price go for IXwebhosting.com
to make your website uneditable for client, there is an option Publish website in visual studio. Use that. It will not copy the cs or vb file with project rather make a commulative assembly dll in BIN folder
