I have a GridView connected to Access mdb file.
The updates, delete and insert into mdb file works fine in VS2008 when I click Ctrl-F5, but it does not work in real use even I put all files under inetpub\wwwroot.
What is wrong ? Error I get is :-
Operation must use an updateable query.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Operation must use an updateable query.

If your mdb file is marked as "read-only" you will get that error.

Thanks. How to mark it as not "Read Only" ?
I have already right clicked the file and in properties unchecked Read Only box and for every folder holding it done the same thing.
What am I missing here. Pls help.

You may have more than one copy of the mdb file "floating around". Make sure you a accessing the correct one.

Thanks a lot SGWellens ...
and special thanks to Mike as well...This is so great !! I think this would solve the problem. Thanks.
Would u mind advising which Account I should add:-
(Situation 1) When I am developing the application on my own Win XP (there are loads of users in the find list - dunno exactly which one I should add). anywhere in Control Panel I can locate the correct one ?
(Situation 2) When I finished the application for intranet users and saved in on shared file server. Is it the find button will show everyone on network and then I add user one by one ?
Many thanks Mike your articles are great.

The "user" on your XP Pro machine is ASPNET. It will be NETWORK SERVICE on your server. Just follow the steps in the article I posted.
