I'm trying to use Microsoft report viewer, I have managed to get it working locally.
Now I want to try it on the server, however in the article below it seems to suggest that i will need
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services report server.
I currently use SQL server 2003.
Does that mean I cannot use the report service until I upgrade to sql 2005?
I allow users access to citrix server and they view a web application throught there, is there a way to allow them to export the report to excel on their LOCAL machine rather then saving to our citrix server.

you can use local report. I don't think it will require to have SQL server 2005 to perform local report generation.
e.g. on page
1. Add ReportViewer control
2. add DataSet to your APP_DATA folder
3. click on smart tag |> of ReportViewer
4. Click on Design New report or choose existing .rdlc
5. you can convert the .rdl file to rdlc by renaming the .rdl to .rdlc

If you want to use SQL SERVER 2005 reporting Services. you need to deploy the reports on server. On server you need to have the Report DataBAse and running ReportingWindows service
Here are those how to do videos

OK so when my app is on the server and the user is accessing it through citrix via IE and they want to view a report which is cretaed through the .net app then sql server 2005 reporting service will have to be used?
