I would like to open a remote site within VWD Express.
On doing so, VWD 2008 EXP raises the following error: Unable to create the local cache location 'C:\Documents and Settings\...'
I followed the advice in the fMSDN article:
FTP Site Tab, Choose Location/Open Web Site Dialog Box, but enabling read and write permissions does not cure the problem.
TIA for any suggestions.

I have a similar problem at the moment to the above, although the above post is old, I am using VS2008 Professional Edition.
I am attempting to import a website hosted remotly, and Ideally would like to import this locally to allow me to make edits and then sync with remote.
I have tried FTP (New Website) but keep getting the message "Unable to create the local cache" I have tried checking permissions, this is full access across all (Read, Write etc.) for the cache folder.
I have even deleted the VWDWebCache folder to no avail.
In an ideal world I want to import the current live site to my local machine, have the ability to make adjustments locally, test locally, and then once happy, to be able to sync with the remote server as desired.
Being a newcommer to ASP I am looking for an answer to two questions here I suppose.
1) How to fix the Cache issue mentioned above.
2) Best way to setup a local environment for syncing remote site and then having a local test environment as well.
Currently the remote server is configured for ASP.Net 2.0 Framework (Looking to upgarde in the future, but not immediatly - there are reasons for this.)
Local machine is running W7, VS2008 Pro, SQL Server Express 2005.
All links, cheat sheets, hints & tips are more than welcome.
Amazon's bookshop is my friend at this time, coupled with a mixture of forums.
Thanks in advance for all advice.
