If rendered page is WML, then you can not set colours, but if rendered page is XHTML Mobile, then it can. This rendering depends of device. Unfortunately, asp.net device doesn´t detect device and render correctly. I´m using Marg.Wurfl for detecting and rendering
asp.net web page. I think it better than microsoft solution.

i m also a victim of microsoft in mobile web development. I think that Marg.Wurfl is much much better solution to detect the device and render correctly.
You said that you are using marg.wurfl to render correctly, i want to ask you that do u generate the all the markup of the page in the codebehind i.e .cs file after detecting the rendering laguage of the device?
can u use the device filters with marg.wurfl to generate the markup in the .aspx file?
please tell me that how do u do the detection and rendering.. can u give me an example?

Yes, you can use mobile controls in tradicional way. So, you can define then in aspx without any problem. You should replace microsoft capabilities with wurlf capabilities in global.asax
void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
// replace ASP.NET MobileCapabilities with WurflCapabilities!
Marg.Wurfl.WurflMobileCapabilities capabilities = new Marg.Wurfl.WurflMobileCapabilities(Context);
Context.Request.Browser = capabilities;
Anyway, Everybody is developing (or starting) using MVC.
