The IIS5 logs just state /Default.aspx 500. No other information but error code 500. Is there any way i can get ASP.NET to provide more information on the error? I've also tried a blank .aspx file and renaming the BIN folder to BIN-OLD but still the
same error message. I am able to call a .HTM file just fine.

Does the Event Viewer provide anything interesting?

The IIS5 logs just state /Default.aspx 500.
The administrator note said to check the Event Logs, not the IIS logs. Admin Tools -> Event Viewer. Make sure you have disabled friendlly errors in IE. Make sure any blocking software, such as anti-virus or IIS Lockdown and URLScan, allows ASP.NET files.

I've recieved that message when ASP.NET isn't setup correctly, to ensure that it is run:
Also if it's told you to check the application event logs then have a look what they say, you can view them by rightclicking my computer --> manage --> Event viewer --> application

I have a problem very similar to this, but it is also affecting "classic" ASP pages as well, and using the aspnet_regiis utility had no effect and my IIS installation won't create any log files or event entries, preventing diagnosis. Not only that, IIS
does not display any ASP.NET options on any configuration panes. Any and all assistance will be heavily thanked for.
