The compiler should be able to list all the images used in my project. So as it turnes out the images folders have become bloated during development. This didn't happen by accident more on purpose but mistakenly on purpose. So now I need to clean the
images folders of all unused images and I need a list of the ones not to clean.
This may be an of course and everybody knows how to do this or it may be why did you let this happen?

As far as I know, there is not such option in Visual Studio 2005 to list the image files that are used in your website.
Commonly, we determine which image will be used and then design the image before developing. It is helpful to name the image with good name, such as HeadImg, etc.
You can make some rules to guide the developer to only put used image files in your website and move the image files when they are useless.
You can also post the suggestions to our Connect feedback portal. Our developer will evaluate them seriously and take them into consideration when designing future release of the product.
I hope this helps.
