Using Access 97 (not my app) I need to create a view? I can do this in SQL but it does not work in access.
Ideas or tips appreciated.

Found the facts!
The Microsoft Access database engine does not support the use of CREATE VIEW, or any of the DDL (Data Definition Language (DDL): The
language used to describe attributes of a database, especially tables, fields, indexes, and storage strategy. ANSI defines this to have the tokens CREATE, DROP, and ALTER.) statements, with non-Microsoft Access database engine databases.

I'm not entirely sure I understand what the passage you quoted is driving at, but if you create a saved SELECT query in Access, you can treat that as a View. I'm not sure about Access 97 (which is no longer supported by the way) but it certainly works with
the Jet 4.0 provider and Access database from 2000 onwards. If the app is running on a server that has the MSJet40.dll installed, you can convert the db to 2000 and use that instead.
