Is it possible to publish a asp.net 2.0 website on iis 5.1. We have a computer running XP and IIS 5.1 at our intranet, and I would like to upload and run a asp.net 2.0 website on this web server. Is that possible? I am all new to this, so I will also need
a starter guide how to upload and configure the IIS and the website. Does anyone know of any good resources on the net explaining this at a rather basic level?

Yes, it is possible, but I would not recommend hosting a public website from your intranet. With shared hosting packages being so affordable, it would be much easier to host them with a dedicated web hosting company.

Start at www.iis.net. Same login as here.

Thank's for the advice, but the database contains patient data (hospital environment), and the intranet is protected by a powerfull firewall. The intention is to use one of the dedicated web- and sql servers provided by the hospital, but while at a development
stage I prefer using an easy and (by me) controllable hosting.

Do you want to publish the website to the local intranet or to the world wide web? If you wish to make your website accessible on the web then you would also need to purchase a static ip to host your website on. The ip provided to you by your internet service
provider is usually dynamic and changes everytime you connect to the net, so your website will have a different ip everytime you connect to the net. However, for the local intranet it should be fine.
