When I try to attach to the aspnet_wp process it is grayed out in the process dialog box. The inetinfo process is also grayed out. It appears I could attach to any other process. The application is using the 2.0 framework though I do have the 3.0 framework
installed. If I create a small stand alone web site and run it with debugging everything works though I could not attach to the aspnet_wp process. I am on a Windows XP Professional machine. Several months ago (last time I had to debug this application)
I was able to attach to the debugger so it has worked in the past. I did check the HTTP keep alives and integrated authenication. Are there any other ways I could get aspnet_wp so that it is not grayed out?
Thanks in advance.

The aspnet_wp process will be grayed out in the process dialog box when it is attached already.
Check whether aspnet_wp process is not attached for someother instance.
Reset IIS and try again

Thanks. I have tried restarting (even rebooting) several times. Any idea how I can tell which process might be attaching itself to the aspnet_wp process? I must have installed something that is attaching itself whenever IIS starts.

I found it. I was running the Debug Diagnostic Tool a while back and I never deleted all the rules.
