I need some guidance on implementing an internationalized asp site.
Right now I have a working implementation.. but personally I don't think it's exactly "sexy".
That's what I have:
Sql database backend which contains the texts (with ISO language code keys).
In my asp website application I set a default language on startup via globals.asax.
Application["fallbacklanguage"] = "en-US";
Additionally I have a dropdownlist which contains a list of languages I can choose between. This dropdownlist is directly databound to the database table which contains the language code keys.
Upon Index changed (event) I change the value of Session["language"] to whatever is currently selected.
I then do a full postback and all my updatepanels' contents are altered onPreRender. That's necessary because onLoad is executed too early in the ASP lifetime cycle.
well.. it's working. But I'm pretty sure it's not exactly good design. I don't want to use ressource files.. I have all my information in sql backends. Also I want to make use of Internet Explorer's capability to set languages.
Is there a toolset or design guide or anything that might help me?
If you need any more information to fully understand what I'm asking for.. please don't hesitate to ask :-)
