Im trying to upload the .sql files to my server. Im using PhpMyAdmin and I am just directly trying to import the file onto the database. Im not exactly sure if what I am doing is correct as I am getting errors.
I followed this tutorial here
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/12/22/recipe-deploying-a-sql-database-to-a-remote-hosting-environment-part-1.aspx for getting the sql files and on how to upload them.
This is what it says at the start of the error page:
There seems to be an error in your SQL query. The MySQL server error output below, if there is any, may also help you in diagnosing the problem
ERROR: Unclosed quote @ 97377
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.foreign_keys WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[FK_Ads_Categories]') AND parent_object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[classifieds_Ads]'))
ALTER TABLE [dbo].[classifieds_Ads] DROP CONSTRAINT [FK_Ads_Categories]
And This is what it said down the very bottom of the error.
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.foreign_keys WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[' at line 1
And in between that is the whole sql file.
If anyone could give me any help at all I would appreciate it very much.

the tutorial you have mentioned is for SQL Server not for MySQL and I think you are using MySQL which is a complete different Database, in order to deploy MySQL on your Server the first you will need is to have the appropriate MySQL .NET Connector or ODBC
check out this on how to connect ASP.NET with MySQL:
after you have sat up your database you can take the backup either with PHPMyAdmin or MySQL Administrator(which comes with MySQL GUIs).

Thanks very much for the quick response.
Im very new to ASP.Net so I dont really know what I am doing, however I have been doing quite a few of the free tutorials.
I'll take a look at that tutorial you mentioned and then I'll let you know how I go.

I tried that tutorial you sent me to and it said I needed to download
MySQL Connector/Net. I did that and when running the install it has an error and says I need .NET Framework 1.1

Just curious, why are you using mysql? and not ms sql 2005?

thats what is provided with my host because I need it to run my IPB forums.
Can I use MySQL to run my servers, and have MS SQL 2005 installed on the database to run this classifieds site?
