I am new to asp, I am familiar with php and apache etc.
What I am trying to achieve is to show an exchange mailbox's contacts (adress book info) onto a cisco 7970 IP phone. The IP phone has a xml capable browser.
I would like to know if someone has already attempted this or maybe someone could suggest how to go about doing this.
I would like to enter a preconfigured 4/6 digit numeric password on the phone after which the phone contacts the exchange server and retrieves my contacts and displays firstname, lastname, business #, cell #, address on the IP Phone's screen with a PREV
and NEXT, Exit buttons for simple navigation.
I have enough info on how to handle the navigation for the phone's xml capable browser, I just dont know how to get an asp script to login to OWA or other and retrieve the users contacts and make it available in some sort of xml format...or atleast display
it on a webopage !!
any suggestions, ideas, code snippet, complete project that anyone can be help me with would be appreciated.
I am not sure if I should be posting in this forum, please move it to wherever it needs to go

a while ago I tried to write a asp.net-Page which logs on to OWA, reformats the output a bit an displays it.
I didn't find a way to log in into OWA with asp.net. Maybe I just missed a triviality and in fact it's easy. But what made me stranding was, that OWA uses some HTTP-Redirections + Cookies for Login, and it's difficult to handle both on the same time. That's
the bad news.
The good news: There are other ways to get the Information you need. I think the recommended way is using the "Exchange Web Services". Maybe WebDav will also be possible (I think it's a bit easier then EWS, but i'm not shure wether Ex 2k7 still supports
it). Search for this two topics, and have look at this: http://haggards.us/?year=2007&month=1.
What i would be interested in is writing Pages for Cisco IP-Phones. How do you get the Phone to dial a number out of a page? And do you maybe even know how to control your phone from you PC (without buying the expensive Cisco-Software)? Can you give me some

I have found some ways to get this to work, but its not efficient nor is it the correct method I think.......anyways, I am still hoping someone here could come up with the proper way of achieving this.
anyways, answering your question on Cisco IP Phones. Depends on the model of phone you have, also depends on how it is correctly configured to operate. I have my cisco phones operating via asterisk soft pbx. Its a very popular open source pbx
http://www.asterisk.org/ if you are not familiar with asterisk, check out these guys, they have an excellent pre-packaged asterisk system ready to roll in less than 40 minutes from install to setting up first phone extension...
cisco phones (depending on the model) can be flashed with sccp protocol (commonly used with cisco callmanager software) or with sip firmware (the growing standard for ip phones). I am using my cisco 7960 and 7970 phones with sip with asterisk. asterisk
is free software, getting the sip firmware for cisco phones will requires a cisco service agreement which is not free....
I can control my cisco 7970 phone from the pc, I can ssh into the phone and issue commands depends on the login mode you have chosen, debug or admin mode. you can create an xml webpage with special tel://1234567890 as a xml entity and the phone can dial
that number right from the display, its very cool, very easy to do. for lots of information on this visit the following:
if you need any further info, let me know...
