So I download/installed Visual Web Developer 2008 and you're only option when creating a new website is by creating "A blank ASP.NET Web site (.NET Framework 3.5). My hosting provider only supports and provides for the .NET Framework 2.0. Can someone show
me how I can go about getting a 2.0 template that I can used for new websites? I tried using the wonderful "...search online templates" tool found within the VWD but the results didn't seam to provide what I was looking for.

Could you not just remove the references to .net 3.0 / 3.5 in the web.config? Or download this template:
Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Templates for Visual Studio 2008
and remove the references in the web.config to AJAX and any referenced assemblies.

You could always use VWD 2005

Thank Mikhail - That was the answer I was hoping for. The thought of running two version of VWD wasn't making me very happy.

Also in the Solution Explorer you can change the property of the web site to be 3.5, 3.0, or 2.0. Simply click on the root, then hit the properties button above it.
