Does anyone know if you can use Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data with Visual Studio 2005? I'm taking over an application that uses it and I can't run it on my system. I keep getting the error that it can't find this dll...so I looked it up and found that
I have to download the DataAccessApplicationBlock.msi file and build it on my machine and then set a reference to it in my project. I downloaded the .msi file from Microsoft and installed it...when it came time to open the project file to build it...it wouldn't
open because it is a .vbproj file and VS 2005 won't open it. I don't have VS 2003 so I can't build this dll.
Does anyone have a workaround for this? I've even downloaded Enterprise Library January 2006.exe which is supposed to have an updated version for the .Net 2.0 environment but it's the same thing for this one.

If ur requirement is to open a web application, u need to install VS 2005
1. Web Application Project Setup patch (WebApplicationProjectSetup.msi) available at
2. VS 2005 Service Pack 1. (VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU.exe) (460 MB) available at
If u r opening ASP.Net 1.1 project (.vbproj), VS 2005 converts it into 2.0. Some code may not work due syntax changes.
Hope this solves ur problem.

Ya, I tried converting to 2.0 but it didn't work but I found a solution...It was much simpler than I thought.
I'm continuing work on an application that someone else started and when I pulled all his files from sourcesafe...this dll wasn't there. I asked him to send me the dll file and I simply put it in my bin directory and it worked.
Thanks for your help.
