Hi, i have the task of creating an existing online website application into a version which can be used on a mobile phone. My question is how should i go about this, could you give me a few links, and pointers into what steps I should take, thank you.

If you are targeting mobile devices you should get familiar with Mobile Web Forms and use them instead of usual Web Forms.

Hi Podi reading those websites I have gathered the fact that my existing web forms will have to change to mobile web forms, however is it possible to use the existing methods in the code behind or will those have to be changed as well, thank you.

It depends on what you exactly do and how advanced is your web site.
The lifecycle of the aspnet mobile page is pretty similar to the web form's one, you can find the differences
It's also about controls you use, sometimes it will be enaugh just to change from <asp:TextBox> to <mobile:TextBox> but sometimes you will need to redesign a bit your application. You can see the differences between standard web controls and their mobile
