I have an existing program that reads data from an excel sheet. We are looking at making some major changes so I thought i would toss around the idea of using the Excel Com Class if it is faster than going the OleDbConnection route. I have been unable to
find anything comparing the speed of the two.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Excel vs OleDbConnection

Excel Automation requires Excel to be installed on the system. It launches Excel.exe to maninpulate data in the sheet. You can refer to Excel Object Model if you choose this way:
With the OleDbConnection class, you can use SQL statement or stored procedure to execute against an Excel data source which requires an ODBC driver for Excel.

Thanks for your reply. I know how to use both of them to the extent that i will need to. And excel is already installed on the web server, so that is not a problem. I was wondering what the speed difference was between the two.
