I need a community/organization site that members would be able to log and have the following for use.
Article/News Posts (And must be able to attach images or documents)
To be able to view other members of the society.
Events and Announcements.
And personalization and secuirty on pages
I want to be able to map users to roles e.g Viewers, Editors/Admins etc..
I have gone throught the three Club starter kit,CodepLex Club starter kit and Extended Club starter kit
Which one would suit my need..quite confused..
Any hints or ideas would be really appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

Although I'm biased, I would say Codeplex ClubStarterKit since it is under active development :)

OK, so I understand that the CodePlex Club Site Starter kit is newer than the Club Site Starter Kit. And that the Extended Club Site Starter kit is an extension of the original (non Code-Plex) code.
Is there any reason to use 'Extended' over 'CodePlex' or is the latter the latest and greatest?

The main difference is that Codeplex CSK is under active development. Extended is not under development. Any bugs can be fixed in codeplex but not in the extended.

It is not apparent to me that any of the club kits are under active development, the discussions are not being replied to on Codeplex.

Ooooo ouch that one hurt man :)
We are in a bit of a time of transition. We really need the next version of SubSonic to move forward. I don't want any more changes to the DB without migration support. To combat this, we are waiting.

I think that if you don't start answering people's questions on the Codeplex forum you may alienate them further and a lot of them may stop using your software and look elsewhere. It is very frustrating to be ignored. People do not like to be ignored and
would like to know the current status and timeline of the project.

I have a life, you know. And other contributors (*cough* like yourself *cough*) can help me out by answering posts too.
As far as your alientation crap, people can email me and I usually answer those pretty quickly... so to say that this is my fault and to point the finger at me is just not right.

I answer the posts that I am able to answer, I am not as talented as you and am not a programmer so I am limited as to what I can contribute.
I am not faulting you as to the progress of the project only that you fail to keep people up to speed and let them know the progress that is being made if any. This has been present all along.
I would suspect that your young age has a lot to do with this. I am quite a bit older and have been in business most of my life and know that one has to keep clients informed on a timely basis.
So where do you document that people can email you and you will offer your help?

Get the club 2. The extended needs some work. Club 2 will install pretty easy but you need read the instructions.

It looks all of the club site starter kits have not been updated for almost one year. I would like to ask the same question: which club site starter kit is the best choice?

Well, the original is VB and the CodePlex version is mostly VB also (with that whole SubSonic C# thing as the major exception), so I am trying the "just right" (middle version) on my next club site project.
Speaking of documentation -- WHERE is it? The most useful post I've found so far is one titled "Starter Kit Installation - I finally figured it out" by "jschaukowitch" which ostensibly contains the necessary "jewels" to take the downloaded ZIP and make some
sense of it. HOWEVER, when I followed his cookbook (here: http://www.codeplex.com/ClubStarterKit/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=29231 ) I still get an odd database " no find" (after
re-pointing the database as suggested in that post). I'd love to dig deeper and understand what's really going on ... pointers, pretty PLEASE!
mahalo/thanks ... :) KevInKauai
LATE WORD: Found the appropriate documentation for the official Release 2 here:
http://www.codeplex.com/ClubStarterKit/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=1911 What's surprising is that it seems to be half "developer configuration" and half "end user help". Is there a purely technical document somewhere to give additional insight
into how things work?
