I have had this problem for a couple of weeks now, first with the beta version of Visual Web Developer 2008 and now with the official release. The database explorer doesn't show up! The closesest I can get is a little blank white tab where the Database
Explorer used to be. I don't know what caused this to happen, all I know is that it doesn't show up, whether I click on it from the view menu, use the keyboard shortcut, whatever. Tools > Connect to Database.. also doesn't appear. As I mentioned before,
I uninstalled the beta version and installed the new and the problem remains. I deleted all my former projects and reset all the settings but the problem remains. Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Visual Web Developer

Can you see "Database Explorer (Ctrl + Alt + S)" on View menu? Have you installed SQL Server Express Edition?

I have a similar problem in that I cannot add a database using vwd 2008.
It says unexpected error after I click ok to add the sql database to the App data folder.
I have sql express and managment studio installed

I also don't have Database Explorer or Sever Explorer in the View menu. I have just installed a trial version of VS 2008 ('full' install). I have 'Team 2008 Database Edition' showing in Help --> About.
If I do CTRL + ALT + S, Server Explorer does appear.

Best way is to just reinstall
