Is it necessary to get the book to use the beer house as a starter kit? Is there any other information or docs for the beer house?

No, there are no other docs. The application was developed purely for the purposes of illustrating a specific approach to ASP.NET development which is the subject of Marco's book. As far as documentation for the app goes, the book is superb. Not only
that, but Marco takes a good amount of time to discuss alternative approaches to various parts of the app, and gives his reasons why he discounted them.
It is possible to become a very good developer in ASP.NET without spending a single penny, what with all the blogs, forums, tutorials, Express software and MSDN out there. Having said that, resources like "ASP.NET 2.0 Website Programming, Problem - Design
- Solution" are in my opinion invaluable, and worth every penny. Buy it.
PS. I don't know Marco Bellinaso, and I have never worked for Wrox [;)]

I understand. I do plan on getting the book and going through it. It won't be for a little while though.
Docs and books are two very different things. I was hoping for something that would at least help me get started.

Mainship, maybe this link will help...
Go to the ASP.NET Architecture section, the guy done the presentation on this subject based on the book, and you can download the slides (and code).
