I was unable to successfully deploy my ASP.NET V2 web site to GoDaddy. It displayed several error messages, most notably a cryptic message about GoDaddy rejecting remote connections. I had created my database on the hosting site using
their tools, so that was not the issue. The main issue was the ASPNETDB.MDF database in the app_data folder used by ASP.NET's
Login controls to authenticate users. Another was how to deal with the fact that the ASP.NET Configuration Tool only works on the development system.
The solution was to visit the www.salmontraining.com. It describes several aspects to making this work on GoDaddy, such as settings in the web.config file, and the procedure for creating Users and Roles. In
addition, it showed how to build a page to setup and then manage Users and Roles.
I decided to share this after reading too many horror stories by people who spent several frustrating days attempting to deploy ASP.NET with SQL Server databases and/or Login authentication to GoDaddy.
