I have an ASP.Net mobile calendar control (IDE: Visual Studio 2005) within the user-control (.ascx) of an aspx page. I want to view this in BlackBerry.
On testing in the emulator, I find that we do not see the expected 'calendar box', but instead see a single link 'Calendar', which leads to further links. The date can be selected by progressively following these links. This is certainly not the fast date
picker we expect to use on a mobile device.
Please find the attached screen shots:

The emulator is for BlackBerry 8830; I don't see that exact one listed here: http://www.asp.net/mobile/tested-devices/
Is there a way to get the 'calendar box' date picker on the BlackBerry using mobile controls?
Alternatively, can we launch the BlackBerry native calendar application from within the ASP.Net mobile project?

perhaps you have already recognized that the ASP.NET Mobile Controls are nearly seven years old and obsolete regarding the development of mobile browsing.

ASP.NET Mobile calendar can be display by day, week, or month. Whether an entire month is rendered on a mobile device depends on the capabilities of the device. The day selection will be different according to the rendering results.
I'm not sure if the BlackBerry 8830 is a new model and whether it support rendering entire month ASP.NET Mobile Web Forms. ASP.NET Mobile Web Controls might render a link if it doesn't recognize your devices. You might need to register it with your ASP.NET
on your server.
For the sencond question, if I understand correctly usually you are able to launch native application in web pages in mobile devices.
