I have been looking at references to LDAP - and was hoping access one or more of this directories from a .Net application that I am working on. Most of the references to LDAP I have seen are extremely abbreviated or extremely technical assuming a great
deal of administrator experience. I was wondering if someone could point me to a reference or suggested how I might get started creating a small LDAP directory - preferably on my local machine and how I might get started building a .Net (c#) online app that
would access this LDAP.
Any help greatly appreciated.

If you want to go the Microsoft way, eventually targeting Active Directory, you could use ADAM which is a "light weight AD" that you can run on your local XP box.
There is also an open source initiative called
OpenLDAP, but it might be a bit tricky to make it run in Windows.
