I have a localized site that is online. When I modify a .resx file and upload it, it crashes the site, requiring me to delete the temporary files to revive it (which is a major pain cuz I have to call tech support to delete the files). There must be a way
of modifying these files without this unwanted behavior...
The error I get is "Unable to find resource" or something like that, but ironically, it's looking for a different resource file, one that is in the master page, not the one I've modified.
Thanks in advance for you help,

Are you precompiling your Web site before uploading it to the site? If you do changing resources will require you to precompile the entire app and update the various assemblies.
If you are not precompiling (ie. you have all your source on the server) you should be able to just update the .resx files. ASP.NET will recompile on the fly and that should work unless there's some sort of permissions problem on the server.

The site is not precompiled. I did however notice that I had left the web.config compilation debug="true" directive. I've changed it to false. Do you think this could have been the problem? I haven't had a chance to test it, as it's a production site that
I would prefer not to bring down for a test...
