To get our website to be precompiled as part of a team build we added a website deployment project. At first the WDP seemed to perform great. However, I later discovered small discrepancies between the precompiled source code when deployed to our development
computers vs when it is put on the production server. On all of our development computers all the controls on the master page are hidden and shown correctly. However when I put the exact same precompiled code onto the production server the same controls are
not behaving correctly. Some stay visible when they should be hidden. Some are hidden when they should be shown.
The only difference I can see at this time between the production and development environments is that the production environment does not have visual studio installed. It only has the frameworks installed. I tested this by doing a fresh install of server
2003 and applying all of the security updates. I then put the precompiled site on that computer. After doing that I again noticed the strange bugs popping up that did not appear on the development environments that have visual studio installed.
Has anyone else had this problem?
